The Highly-Anticipated “Obi-Wan Kenobi” Series will be Released by Disney Plus in May 2022

Obi Wan Series Trailer

Many are now looking at other streaming services such as Hulu or HBO Max after Netflix reported its first quarterly loss in a decade. Disney Plus is another contender. It doesn’t seem to be keen on slowing its exclusive TV series. The channel’s programming includes original Disney Channel movies, shows, and programs of National Geographic and Marvel Studios. Disney Plus has created a number of Star Wars TV series, including “The Mandalorian”, and “The Book of Boba Fett.” The latest Obi-Wan Kenobi will see Ewan McGregor return to his iconic Jedi master role.

McGregor is back in the Star Wars franchise, having last appeared in Episode III – Revenge of the Sith in 2005. McGregor has since only made voice appearances in the trilogy by J.J. Abrams. McGregor’s 2019 interview with Men’s Journal reveals that he has been lying about the show’s progress for four years.

McGregor stated that there is a desire for the character to return in footage exclusively screened for 2020’s Disney Investor Day. “The fans have been waiting too long, you know?”

Deborah Chow directed episodes of The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the six-episode miniseries Obi-Wan Kenobi. Chow will be joined in the studio by Joby Harold, showrunner, and Hossein Amini, writer.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will be the main character in the television series. He will appear between the end and the start of the original trilogy. It will show Obi-Wan, originally played by Alec Guinness, ten years after Revenge of the Sith. Obi-Wan will watch over Luke Skywalker at Tatooine after the dramatic battle with Anakin Skywalker.

Other Star Wars actors Hayden Christensen, Joel Edgerton, and Owen Lars will be appearing on the show. Christensen’s anticipated return marks his first appearance in Anakin’s role since Revenge of the Sith. This television series will feature Anakin and Obi-Wan again before the final battle in “Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope.”

Obi-Wan Kenobi was just one of the ten Star Wars series Disney Plus announced back in 2020. Rosario Dawson and Christensen will appear together in “Ahsoka.” Dawson will star as Ahsoka Tano. This character first appeared in one episode of The Mandalorian.
